Measure Hydrogen During a Severe Accident
The GLSEQ H2-100 Hydrogen Detection System provides real-time hydrogen gas partial pressure measurements using a unique chemiresistive sensor that converts hydrogen to an electrical signal. The sensor signal is derived by the change in electrical properties from the reversible adsorption on of hydrogen in the palladium sensor.
This type of MEMS (micro-electromechanical system) Hydrogen sensor was first used in NASA and aerospace applications and has been modified for use in nuclear power applications. The sensor operates during normal operation as well as during and after a severe accident. This real-time data makes it possible to continuously monitor hydrogen conditions as well as understand the time distribution of hydrogen gas after an accident.

Two Controller Options
GLSEQ offers two controller options depending on your need and number of hydrogen sensors utilized.
Single Channel Hydrogen Sensor Controller
The Single Channel Hydrogen Sensor Controller is P/N 18GLC300C, Hydrogen Sensor Controller Electronics. The electronics module is a digital controller with digital RS-485 communications protocol.
The controller interfaces with a 10-pin sensor connector on one end and an adapter cable that connects to the Power and Communication connector on the electronics, which breaks out the connections for power and communications.
The power is connected to a DC power source and the communications is connected to an RS-485 converter and fed into a PC. Optional 24 VDC power supply and optional PC for communication are available.
All communication with the controller is done with a software interface provided. The interface will collect data, display the data, and output it to a CSV file. The file contains the concentration and other diagnostic values.
Four Channel Hydrogen Sensor Controller
GLSEQ has developed a unique Four Channel Hydrogen Sensor Controller, which can monitor up to 4 of our hydrogen sensors simultaneously.
The Four Channel Hydrogen Sensor Controller has additional features:
A. Operator selections for:
1. Normal Operating Mode with Automatic SA Operation
2. Severe Accident Mode
3. Surveillance Mode, which operator can perform on-line surveillance
4. Maintenance Mode, which operator can turn off active monitoring for maintenance or leak rate testing
B. Triple Redundant Powering
The Four Channel Hydrogen Sensor Controller not only works on conventional Class 1E power of 120 VAC and 125 VDC, to address a loss of power accident, our Four Channel Controllers can be powered by two 12 VDC car batteries for 24 VDC using dual cigarette lighter sockets built into the controller. This assures that plants will always have hydrogen monitoring.
